Letter from the President

Eltron Water Systems (EWS) was created in 2007 to commercialize various water-based technologies that Eltron Research & Development has invented over the years. EWS is taking these technologies, converting them into real products, and moving them into the marketplace.

Our commercialization model is flexible. It may be that EWS never manufactures and sells a single product directly. It may also be that EWS makes and sells all of its products. That may sound confusing, but the ultimate goal is to get solutions into the market and provide the most effective and lowest cost products for the end-users while generating the most value.  We are open to technology or product line sales, exclusive or non-exclusive licensing, joint ventures, OEM manufacturing, or EWS-branded manufacturing through our subsidiary fabrication company, Continental Technologies.

Eltron R&D invents and develops technologies largely with the support of government grants. In almost every case more funding is required to further develop the technologies and get viable products to market. Small businesses like ours struggle with this funding problem because the technology is typically too early - stage for venture capitalists, banks, etc. G enerally, there are still technical as well as commercial risks that these organizations prefer not to take on. We refer to this stage of development as “crossing the valley of death.” Eltron Water Systems has no government funding.   I n fact it is entirely self-funded. For some products, we will undoubtedly seek and take growth capital. However, for all products, we alone bear the financial risk of product development and market entry.

Our first product lines are approaching market entry. These systems will make either hydrogen peroxide or peracetic acid on-site in a green and cost-effective process. Instead of transporting and storing these products, which are dangerous in high concentrations, users will simply make them on-site, as needed.

In coming versions of this web letter, I will discuss other products in development. In general, our new products will fall into the category of disinfectants and cleaners or they will be products that provide more efficient and environmentally friendly ways to treat water, whether it is industrial process water or municipal  water.
